Laughter is the Best Medicine!

We could all use more laughter in our lives, and there are a wide variety of reasons why laughter is good for your health. If you’re intrigued, go ahead and give it a try. Smile and let out a laugh – even if it feels a little forced at first. Then, see how you feel. Do you feel a little more relaxed? Has your jaw unclenched? It might seem strange, but prioritizing laughter in your life is a great way to stay healthy and happy in your golden years.

In honor of International Joke Day on July 1, enjoy the following.

  • I just saw a grandpa help a youngster who was staring into his phone, to cross the street.
  • A retired man who volunteers to entertain patients in assisted living homes and hospitals visited one hospital in Brooklyn and brought along his portable keyboard. After telling jokes and singing songs for the patients, he said farewell and, “I hope you get better.” One elderly gentleman replied, “I hope you get better, too.”
  • You know you’re getting older when you have a party and the neighbors don’t realize it.
  • When you’re 20 and you drop something, you pick it up. When you’re 80 and you drop something, you decide you don’t need it anymore.

Now try sharing a joke with a friend and see how much better you feel!
