AustinUP Q&A: COVID-19 Clinical Trials

Info

Have you ever wanted to participate in a clinical trial, but weren’t sure about the process? Are you curious about the COVID-19 vaccine clinical trials? Join us for this AustinUP Q&A to go behind the scenes to learn what’s involved in a clinical trial, what you can expect as a participant and what’s really happening with the COVID-19 vaccine. AustinUP Executive Director Teresa Sansone Ferguson will speak to Mark Lacy, Founder/CEO of Benchmark Research. Benchmark Research has begun clinical research trials in Austin to test a vaccine for COVID-19. The company is looking to recruit trial participants who are 18 and older – including individuals over 65, front-line workers, individuals likely to be exposed to the virus and high-risk individuals with chronic health conditions, as well as minority groups who are disproportionately affected by this virus. Since 1997, Benchmark Research has conducted more than 380 trials with 28,000 participants in partnership with the private and public sectors at clinics located in California, Louisiana and Texas. Their past studies investigated vaccines for H1N1 influenza during the 2009 H1N1 pandemic and Ebola virus during the 2014 Ebola epidemic. Come listen, learn and ask questions via Facebook Live!
